Member Parliament (MP) and senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig Sunday said his dream is in line with the dream of every Kashmiri who wants to live a dignified life. He called for making science and technology a mandatory part of the State’s educational system.Speaking at a function, organized by Newlight Education and Environmental Service Foundation- Newlight Education and Environmental Society (NEESF-NEES), at SKICC here today, Beig said; “I want what every Kashmiri wants. There should be eternal peace between India and Pakistan and people of Jammu and Kashmir should live a dignified life.”Recalling the devastation caused by last year’s floods, Beig said people of Jammu and Kashmir have braved many floods of different kinds for centuries. “Every challenge provides you an opportunity to become a stronger person and so has last year’s deluge,” he said.

Stressing the need for making science and technology as a mandatory part of state’s education system, the MP said that without the two a person will lag in every sphere of life. “We have to invest in our human resource which in turn will help in betterment of mankind,” he said.Reiterating the need for becoming self sufficient, Beig said that almost everything consumed in state is getting manufactured outside.“Instead of being just consumers we should focus on manufacturing within the State. This will not only make us self sufficient, but will also help us to contribute in making this world a better place for mankind to live,” the MP said.

Among the other important guests who attended the function included, Special Secretary finance, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Director of Business School, University of Kashmir, Dr S Mufeed Ahmad, writer Khawaja Farooq Renzu Shah and Tyndale Biscoe School, Principal Rajinder Kaul.Speaking on the occasion, Special Secretary Finance, Bashir Ahmad Bhat expressed his happiness that the children who received the gold medals for their excellent results were from the districts where he has served in the past.Mentioning the focus areas which if worked on can lead to the uplift of any country Dr S Mufeed said; “We need to invest in dynamic human capital, education sector, establishing financial system practice, updating of information and technology, quality medical care, and good governance.”Khawaja Farooq Renzushah said Kashmir is the hub of knowledge and the children here have talent which needs to be nurtured.
