The Red Ribbon Club of the Government Degree College (GDC) Sumbal organized a daylong seminar in the auditorium on the eve of International Youth Day. The programme started with the recitation of the verses of Holy Quran and the Naat-i-Sharief by the two students.The dozens of students participated in the seminar.In the question hour session, Prof. Habibullah Rather, Head of Department English responded to the questions raised by some students from the audience.Finally the address was given by Prof. Ashiq Hussain, Head of Department Mathematics who advised the students to mend their ways and inculcate nice behaviour, decency and discipline.The programme was anchored by the student Mohammad Shafi of 3rd year. Prof. Muzaffar Ahmad Department of Education, Prof. Nusrat Department of Kashmiri and Prof. Sajad Ahmad Department of Electronics performed as Jury and 1st , 2nd and 3rd positions were bagged by Wajid Abass of 2nd year, Asif Ali of 3rd year and Khursheed Ahmad of 3rd year.   

Meanwhile, the Red Ribbon Club of the Government Degree College, Kokernag organized ‘’International Youth Day’’. The theme of the event was ‘’Civic Engagement and Kadam Badhaao-A step Towards Change’’. In this connection, the College organized a series of events including important components pertaining to the theme.In its first session, Red Ribbon Club organized a daylong workshop on the topic ‘’Responsibility of Youth towards Society’’.The Principal of the Government Degree College Kokernag in his inaugural address stressed upon the youth to play their vital role in curbing the evils prevalent in the society. He also advised the students in particular and the youth in general to shoulder the responsibility of bringing up the change.The programme was attended by students of the GDC Kokernag, Assistant Executive Engineer Mr. Gulzar Ahmad, officers from JKPCC and local people. Besides, members from civil society were also present on the occasion.

The faculty members of the College also delivered their lectures on the different topics.The Red Ribbon Club of the College also organized intra college Essay Competition. About 45 students of the College participated in which Zakir Hussain of BA 2nd year, Mehraj-ud-Din of BA 3rd year and Zahida Jan of BA 2nd year bagged Ist, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.The Principal of the College, Prof. Muhammad Maqbool Rather appreciated and encouraged all the participants. He also appreciated the organizers of the event especially NSS Programme Officer Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Bhat for managing the event.
