The Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone Sh. SJM  Gillani visited District Budgam where besides chairing a public meeting, he addressed a darbar of police Jawans and attended security review meeting. During the visit, IGP was accompanied by DIG CKR Sh. G.H Bhat.IGP in his address in a public meeting said that main aim of conducting police public interactions is to solicit suggestion and support from the people about the eradication of criminal activates in the society. While referring to the grievances highlighted by the participants IGP assured the participants that issues highlight by them will be redressed on priority basis.IGP also directed the SSP Budgam to open a grievance cell in PCR Budgam where representatives of all the departments will be available to redress the grievance of their respective departments.IGP informed the participants that any complaint regarding the work and conduct of police should be brought into the notice of district SSP and in case no action is taken the same may be brought into his notice.

IGP in his address during a Darbar with the officers and Jawans of the district, stressed upon Jawans to have a people friendly approach and urged them to have constant interaction with civil society members. The IGP gave a patient hearing to the problems and grievances of the Jawans. He assured them that their genuine problems will be addressed at the earliest.IGP in a joint meeting of police officers and paramilitary officer of Budgam said that public has lots of expectations viz a viz the delivery of policing services from us and we need to fine tune our role to come up to those expectations.

 IGP said that improving our conduct and behavior during our interface with the public can go a long way in building conducive conditions to improve our services. IGP further said that for overcoming the future challenges effectively police-public relations need to be strengthened.

He impressed upon the officials of the District police to improvise the functioning of day to day policing so that the quality of services rendered by the police department to general public can be elevated.The security review meeting was attended among others by DIG CKR Sh. G.H Bhat, SP Budgam Fayaz Lone, ASP Budgam Javid Dar, Commandant  CO 43-Bn CRPF, Commandant 181-Bn CRPF, Commandant 178-Bn CRPF all coy commanders of IRP 20th of Budgam District and all the DYSPs of Budgam.
