Describing PDP-BJP coalition a great threat to Panchayat Institution and other autonomous bodies in the State, JK PCC Chief G.A. Mir Monday alleged that attempts are being made to make these institutions defunct aiming to benefit workers of ruling dispensation. In a statement to KNS a spokesman of the party said Mir was addressing a Panchayat Conference at Verinag in Dooru Constituency today.“Sensing a trouble in coming days ahead efforts are being made by PDP led Govt to undermine the authority of Panchyat Institutions and it's representative in the State, the developmental plans prepared by Panchayat Bodies at Panchayat or Village levels are being rejected and biting the dust in government offices. MLAs of ruling parties are being given free hand to prepare developmental plans, aiming to gain political mileage and benefit their Party workers,” he alleged. The JK PCC Chief hit out PDP-BJP coalition for trying to fail Panchayat bodies in the state and said any move to undermine the authority of Panchayat Institutions will certainly tell upon the health of PDP-BJP coalition which is a sinking boat. “Both PDP-BJP are aware that they are losing the ground in the state very fast and now indulging in mass discrimination, at all levels in the system,” he claimed.

“Attempts are being made to crush the Panchayat Bodies and other independent institutions in the State, as the ruling parties PDP-BJP fears that, if Panchayats are given free hand in preparing developmental plans, they won’t be in a position to beat the drums of their so called developmental plans,” Mir said.“Congress Party believes that Panchayats are an important tool of democracy and is fully committed to make Panchayat Institutions more powerful and vibrant. Congress Party will defeat any move which is aiming to undermine the authority of Panchayat Institutions and its representatives,” the JK PCC Chief added. On the occasion Mir reminded the Panchayat representatives that it was the Congress Party which has ensured free and fair Panchat elections in the State after a long time with the sole aim to bring the government at the door steps of common people. He said Congress succeeded in implementing the Panchyat Raj not only in the State but in whole country. “This is unfortunate that power hungry people doesn't want Panchyat institutions to function just to benefit themselves,” he said.
