Three-tier security at EVM's strong rooms

At least 10,000 security personnel, including from the paramilitary forces, have been deployed to guard 20,000 electronic voting machines (EVM) in which the votes cast in Saturday's Delhi assembly poll remain locked.The workers of various political party will be allowed in the counting halls Tuesday when results for the 70-member Delhi assembly will be announced, said officials."It is a three-tier security for the EVMs. The machines have been kept inside the strong rooms made in nine districts," said an official of the Election Commission."Each strong room is guarded by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, armed police and the local police," the official added.The counting will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday and it will be video graphed. The party workers will be allowed at the counting centres only on the counting day, he added.Delhi saw a voter turnout of 67.14 percent during polling in the 70 assembly constituencies Saturday. A total of 11,763 candidates contested the elections.
