Punjab Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi today welcomed the decision of Union Government to include Taran Tarn in the ambit of Heritage Cities and said the voice of this border district had been heart after a very long time at the centre as Union Urban Development Minister Mr. Venkaiah Naidu announced to develop this city as heritage city. Welcoming the decision, Joshi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley and Mr. Naidu for this historic decision. He said it was the second gift to the people of Punjab since in the Union Budget Amritsar had been included in Heritage Yojna program of Centre. He said this district has been facing severe problems and disturbances due to its closeness to Indo-Pak borders but the decision of Centre has awarded the due respect deserved by it. Joshi said the steps were being taken by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi would highlight holy city Amritsar and heritage city Taran Tarn on international heritage map. He said this would also bring an unprecedented and immense development of these cities, which would further give a fillip to this border belt of nation. He said Taran Tarn had been never considered in such prestigious programs but now NDA government has come forward to recognise it evaluating its heritage and historic background.
