President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President M. Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday paid tributes to Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh faith, on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. However, while speculations remain rife about a possible cabinet reshuffle, sources from Rashtrapati Bhavan said there was no discussion between the president and the prime minister on the issue."They paid tributes and attended the Gurubani. There were no discussions," an official from Rashtrapati Bhavan told IANS.A gurbani (hymn) recital was also organised on the occasion of the 546th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak at the Rashtrapati Bhavan."Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were among the dignitaries who attended the event. The recital was conducted by Bhai Chamanjit Singh and party," a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said.

In a series of tweets Thursday morning, Modi called on the people to follow the path of compassion, truth and peace as shown by Guru Nanak."I bow to the venerable Guru Nanak (Devji) on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. The life and teachings of Guru Nanak (Devji) inspire us eternally. Let us follow the path of compassion, truth and peace as shown by him," Modi said in a tweet. He added: "Today is also a day to pledge to embrace the path of service and work towards a just and equal society, free from any kind of social evils."
