Relief and Rehabilitation work is the top most priority of the district administration, the major work of which has been done and the remaining work is in full swing.This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Mr. Tasaduq Jeelani in a high level meeting of all the district officers and other concerned agencies related with relief and rehabilitation.Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Superintending Engineers of all Engineering Departments and Deputy Director CA&PD South Kashmir also attended the meeting.Deputy Commissioner directed all the concerned to gear-up their all available sources to complete the relief process in a shortest possible time.
It was given out in the meeting that an amount of Rs. 13.50 lakhs have been distributed among kiths and kins of 9 dead persons during flood out of 11 reported deaths, 135 shelter sheds at a cost of Rs. 51000 each have been constructed by NGO’s in the district at different locations. Rs. 6 crores have been distributed among 809 fully damaged Pacca house owners, Rs. 36 lakhs among 202 fully damaged Kaccha house owners, Rs. One crore among 833 severely damaged Pacca house owners, Rs. 8 lakh among 207 severely damaged Kachha house owners, Rs. 69000 have also been disbursed among owners of 23 damaged huts and Rs. 65000 among owners of cow shed owners.
As many as 450 tents and 10000 blankets besides a cash amount of Rs. 2.80 lakhs has also been disbursed among the affected families / persons out of Red Cross. Land has also been identified for construction of prefabricated huts at Dehruna.Against the target of 57000 quintals, 56000 quintals of rice have been distributed among the needy families of the district besides 23000 quintals of sugar 643000 litres of k.oil and 87300 LPG cylinders have been distributed to the consumers.It was also given out in the meeting that 11 fully damaged bridges have been restored by way construction of persions and 70 percent of work on temporary restoration of partially damaged bridges has been completed and balance book is under progress. Connectivity of all the affected 322 kms road length has been restored against work done cost of Rs. 14.50 crores, Rs. 389 crore have been released under the R&B sector.
Under PMGSY in total 16 kms of damaged road length has been restored and remaining 0.36 kms will be resorted shortly. Under PHE sector out of 290 damaged schemes 273 have been resorted while work on remaining is under progress. Out of total spent restoration cost of Rs, 23.85 crores, Rs. 255 crore have been released so far under PHE sector.Under Irrigation and flood control 228 irrigation works and 366 flood control works have been restored worth cost of Rs. 87.77 crores. In PDD sector 2 flood affected grid stations have been restored besides repairing of 200 transformers and replacement of 84 new ones. 2000 new poles have been also installed in addition 84 new transformers, 200 poles 70 km conductor and some transformers have also been allotted directly from central stores Kashmir.
After floods 34 medical camps have been conducted during which 5514 patients have been treated and Rs. 6.13 lakh chlorine tablets have also been distributed in the district. Besides, restoring CT. Scan services, which was partially damaged.Animal Husbandry Department has also conducted 12 first aid flood camps for live stock, besides 47174 vaccinations and 425 canes of phenyl have been distributed.It was also revealed that Municipal Committees of Anantnag and Bijbehara have lifted garbage of 5300 mts and 2200 mts respectively.
Under Agricultural and Horticultural Sector an assistance of Rs. 32.18 crore and Rs. 24.76 crore has been sought to coup the flood damage. No educational institute in the district is closed due to floods as, 7 Degree Colleges, 45 Higher Secondary Schools, 115 High Schools, 686 Middle Schools and 695 Primary Schools are functioning normally. 94000 sq fts of timber has been dumped for flood affected people the disbursement of which will be started from tomorrow.Deputy Commissioner Anantnag urged upon all the concerned officers to ensure that no flood affected person is left outside the ambit of the relief and rehabilitation process. He also instructed for furnishing of relief details including ration and LPG availability on daily basis so that black marketing and undue profiteering is checked at base.
