Prof. Saifuddin Soz President JK Pradesh Congress Committee has said, “It is really worrying that the NDA Government has  not extended financial support to the State Government for rehabilitation of the flood sufferers in J&K State so  far. The entire world knows that the devastation that this flood caused in J&K State, is unprecedented in the State’s History. The J&K Govt was reasonable enough to project before the Central Govt a demand for rupees five lakhs per family for a fully damaged house. Then, both NC and INC Leaders made a demand recently that the J&K State should at least, receive a package from the Central Government equivalent to what the UPA Govt had sanctioned for Uttrakhand to cope up with the disaster that occurred there last year.

Independent observers have categorically suggested that the loss of property and  crops in J&K State is very substantially  higher when compared to the loss that Uttrakhand suffered last year. The people of Kashmir are particularly worried for relief as the Winter is fast  approaching and the delay in  grant of financial relief is going to make their lives completely miserable. (KNS)
