Strengthening the Punjab Government's commitment to delivering quality healthcare services at people's doorsteps, Punjab Cabinet Minister and Khanna MLA Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Saturday inaugurated and dedicated three newly constructed Aam Aadmi Clinics in Khanna. Built at a total cost of ₹87 lakh, the new clinics have been established at Narottam Nagar, Focal Point, and Uttam Nagar.

Speaking on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said that the Narottam Nagar Aam Aadmi Clinic has been constructed at a cost of ₹27 lakh, while the clinics at Focal Point and Uttam Nagar have each been built at a cost of ₹30 lakh. He said these clinics will provide high-quality primary healthcare services free of cost to residents of the surrounding areas close to their homes.

He said that 107 essential medicines are available free of cost at Aam Aadmi Clinics, and patients receive consultation and treatment from qualified doctors without any charges. He added that the inauguration of these three new clinics will provide major relief to thousands of residents, particularly senior citizens, mothers and women, who will no longer need to travel long distances for medical treatment.

The Cabinet Minister informed that with the addition of these clinics, the total number of Aam Aadmi Clinics in the Khanna Assembly constituency has increased to 10. Of these, three are located in rural areas, four were already functioning in Khanna city, and three new clinics have now been dedicated to the public. He assured that similar facilities would also be established in other areas wherever the need arises.

Sond said that during previous governments, the daily outpatient department (OPD) at the Civil Hospital, Khanna was limited to only 300–400 patients, and there was no concept of Aam Aadmi Clinics at that time.According to doctors, he said, the Civil Hospital now records a daily OPD of more than 1,500 patients, while the seven previously operational Aam Aadmi Clinics collectively treat around 1,400 patients every day.

Thus, nearly 2,900 people are benefiting from government healthcare services daily. He expressed confidence that each of the three newly inaugurated clinics would also examine 150 to 200 patients every day, further improving access to quality and convenient healthcare.Appealing to the public, the Cabinet Minister urged people to enroll under the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme by obtaining the health card being issued under the programme.

He said the card provides health insurance coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family, offering significant financial protection during serious illnesses and helping families avoid the burden of expensive medical treatment.Senior Medical Officer (SMO) of Civil Hospital, Khanna, Dr. Maninder Bhasin, along with officers from various government departments, was also present on the occasion.
