In a major relief for farmers, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday transferred Rs 1,460.25 crore directly into the accounts of 10.54 lakh farmers across Madhya Pradesh. The amount represents crop insurance claims for the Kharif 2025 season under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

The transfer was executed with a single click immediately after the Council of Ministers meeting held in Jagdishpur. CM Yadav emphasised that the state government stands firmly with farmers in every situation. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always shown sensitivity towards farmers’ interests, and the crop insurance scheme is designed to provide financial assistance in cases of crop loss due to natural calamities.

Later, he wrote on his X handle: “Today, from Jagdishpur, under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, an insurance claim amount of Rs 1,460.25 crore for Kharif 2025 has been transferred to the accounts of 10 lakh 54 thousand farmers in the state through a single click.

Heartiest congratulations to all the beneficiary farmer brothers and sisters.” The Chief Minister also urged farmers to insure their notified crops before the deadline, warning that the El Niño effect could impact monsoon rainfall this year. Timely insurance, he said, would ensure compensation in case of crop damage.

He reiterated that the government is continuously working to improve farmers' welfare and will not allow them to suffer due to unpredictable weather conditions. He assured that every possible step is being taken to safeguard their livelihoods. Minister for Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development Adal Singh Kanshana highlighted the scale of support extended under the scheme.

Between 2016–17 and 2024–25, a total of Rs 30,942.34 crore has been paid to affected farmers in Madhya Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. The latest transfer adds to this record, reinforcing the government’s commitment to agricultural resilience.

The initiative has been welcomed by farmer groups, who see it as a crucial lifeline amid rising concerns over erratic weather patterns and crop losses. With over ten lakh farmers benefiting from the latest payout, the scheme continues to play a pivotal role in stabilising rural incomes and reducing distress.
