Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state is steadfastly pursuing the development and welfare agenda under the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with a strong focus on infrastructure, healthcare and public welfare.

After inaugurating 11 development projects worth Rs 105.73 crore at Rajarshi Hall in Udaipur under southern Tripura's Gomati district, the Chief Minister said that the state government's main agenda is the development of all areas of the state.

He said both the BJP government in Tripura and the central government are committed to ensuring holistic development, and that during the past 12 years under PM Modi's leadership, the country has witnessed unprecedented development, with continuous implementation of public welfare schemes for the benefit of the people.

Highlighting the government's healthcare initiatives, the Chief Minister said that non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cancer, chronic kidney disease (CKD) and alcoholic fatty liver disease account for a large number of deaths across the country, and Tripura is also affected by this growing health burden.

He said these diseases must be identified before they become serious, adding that the state has launched a statewide screening programme for all people above the age of 30 years and has set an annual target of screening 15 lakh people.

Unless preventive measures are taken, he noted, the vision of a 'Sustho Tripura' (Healthy Tripura) cannot be realised. Saha said the state government has introduced several healthcare initiatives, including the Mukhyamantri Niramaya Arogya Abhiyan, an integrated laboratory network, and the Stop Diarrhoea campaign under the hub-and-spoke healthcare model.

He said people no longer need to travel outside the state or to private laboratories for diagnostic tests, as the government is strengthening healthcare infrastructure with modern facilities to provide quality healthcare services to every citizen. The Chief Minister said the newly inaugurated civil hospital, which began with 50 beds, has all major medical departments and would provide outpatient department (OPD) services round the clock.

He added that if this model functions successfully, similar hospitals will be established in the remaining 19 Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat areas, to develop government hospitals with facilities and services comparable to corporate hospitals.

Speaking about the state's infrastructure push, Saha said that besides inaugurating the 11 projects worth Rs 105.73 crore on Tuesday, the government has significantly accelerated developmental activities across Tripura. He said that in the last financial year (2025-26), he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for projects worth nearly Rs 1,500 crore.

In the current financial year alone, projects worth over Rs 121 crore have already been inaugurated or launched, he said, adding that the state government has been giving top priority to infrastructure development and has earmarked Rs 10,000 crore as capital expenditure for infrastructure creation.

The government is fully committed to serving the people, he said. Referring to the recently concluded Destination Tripura Conclave 2026, Saha said the event had exceeded expectations and demonstrated the growing confidence of investors in the state.

More than 1,200 delegates from different parts of the country as well as from abroad participated in the conclave. He noted that while the target was to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 1 lakh crore, the investment proposals finally reached Rs 1.21 lakh crore.

The Chief Minister said PM Modi's HIRA (Highways, Internetways, Railways and Airways) model has transformed connectivity in the northeastern region and significantly enhanced Tripura's visibility across the country. He said people across India are now well aware of Tripura, and that the state has successfully implemented several flagship programmes of the central government along with various state government welfare schemes, which are directly benefiting the people.

He added that the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has registered substantial growth, and Tripura has received more than 350 national awards in different sectors. The government is implementing several futuristic projects aimed at benefiting the next generation, Saha said.

The programme was attended by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy, MLAs Abhishek Debroy and Jitendra Majumder, Secretaries Kiran Gitte and P.K. Chakraborty, along with senior government officials and other dignitaries.
