Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan, today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of various power sector schemes being implemented across the district. The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather, Executive Engineer, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Sunil Sharma, along with representatives of the executing agencies and vendors associated with the implementation of flagship power sector initiatives.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of works undertaken under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), installation of Smart Meters and coverage of Rooftop Solar projects across the district. Reviewing the progress under RDSS, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned agencies to fast-track the execution of works.

He issued necessary directions to resolve the issues raised by the executing agencies.  Assuring full administrative support, he stressed the timely completion of all projects to strengthen the power distribution infrastructure, enhance operational efficiency and improve overall consumer satisfaction in Ramban district.

While reviewing the status of Smart Meter installation, the Deputy Commissioner directed the executing agencies to expedite the process and ensure its completion within the prescribed timelines. He emphasized that Smart Meters must be mandatorily installed and made fully operational without any delay.

He also directed the concerned officers to ensure the immediate installation of Smart Meters for all electricity connections, especially households that have installed rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. 

The Deputy Commissioner laid special emphasis on the effective implementation and wide promotion of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, aimed at encouraging households to adopt rooftop solar systems to reduce their electricity bills and ensure a sustainable, reliable and eco-friendly power supply.

The DC directed the Executive Engineer to liaise closely with the vendor responsible for the solarization of government buildings to ensure timely progress and completion of the works. He also fixed specific targets for AEEs and other officials and concerned agencies to accelerate the pace of installations while strictly adhering to quality standards.

All Junior Engineers have been directed to ensure the installation of maximum units under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, to meet the prescribed targets within the stipulated time frame.
