Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Harvinder Kalyan on Saturday urged villagers to rise above factional politics, work collectively for the development of their villages and resolve minor disputes amicably at the local level.Reiterating that social harmony is the foundation of progress, he announced the construction of a Mahila Chaupal in Pundri and laid the foundation stones for development works worth approximately Rs.1.25 crore.

Addressing villagers in Pundri village,  district Karnal, the Speaker said elected representatives should regard people not merely as voters but as members of an extended family. He said numerous development projects had been undertaken in the constituency over the past decade, with several major initiatives sanctioned during the tenure of former Chief Minister, Sh.  Manohar Lal that would continue to benefit future generations. He added that Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini was working with the spirit of Antyodaya to ensure inclusive development.

Earlier, the Speaker laid the foundation stones for the construction of the Kashyap Chaupal, Pal Chaupal, a Community Centre and a hall near Pir Baba  to be constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs. 1.25 crore. He also appealed to people to maintain cleanliness in their villages and urged educated and financially well-off residents to assist eligible poor families so that they could fully benefit from government welfare schemes.

Announcing a Mahila Chaupal for the village, Sh.  Harvinder Kalyan also stressed the need for establishing a library, describing it as the need of the hour for the younger generation. He asked the village panchayat to identify suitable land and forward a proposal, assuring them that he would facilitate its approval.

Referring to Pundri, he said around 38 youths from the village had already secured government jobs on merit basis, adding that success comes only through hard work. He also said that the village school had been upgraded so that girls would not have to discontinue their education, and assured residents that new demands raised by the village would also be pursued.

Later, at the PWD Rest House in Gharaunda, the Speaker conducted a public grievance redressal programme where he spent more than three hours listening to the concerns and demands of residents from across the constituency. After hearing grievances, Sh.  Harvinder Kalyan directed the  officers concerned to take appropriate action for the early resolution of the grievances and implementation of the development works.
