Government College of Education Organises Five-Day DISHA Workshop for UT Government School Students

Government College of Education, Sector 20, Chandigarh, in collaboration with The Helping Hands Trust, Chandigarh, successfully organized a five-day Motivational cum Personality Development Workshop "DISHA" from July 6 to 10, 2026, under the aegis of the Education Department, Chandigarh Administration. The workshop brought together 40 Class IX students from various Government Schools of Chandigarh.

The workshop aimed at nurturing confidence, emotional resilience, leadership qualities, communication skills, positive values, and life skills among adolescents. Conducted through interactive games, motivational talks, storytelling, group discussions, mindfulness practices, creative activities, and personality enhancement exercises, the programme witnessed enthusiastic participation and an overwhelming response from the students throughout the five days.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Vandana Aggarwal, Associate Professor, Government College of Education, Chandigarh, and Founder Trustee of The Helping Hands Trust, Chandigarh, along with resource persons Mr. Sukhpreet Singh Giani, Mr. Kamlesh Bhatt, Ms. Navita Singh, and a dedicated team of volunteers.

The valedictory function was graced by Sh. Surya Chandra Kant, Additional District & Sessions Judge and Legal Remembrancer-cum-Director of Prosecution, Chandigarh Administration, as the Chief Guest. Mrs. Beena Rani, District Education Officer, school principals, teachers, and other distinguished guests were also present.

The participants confidently shared their reflections on their aim in life and the valuable lessons they had learnt during the workshop. A relaxation and meditation session was also conducted to reinforce the importance of mental well-being and self-awareness.

In his inspiring address, the Chief Guest applauded the participants for their enthusiasm and achievements and emphasized the importance of hard work, focus, dedication, and perseverance in achieving success. Stressing the pivotal role of parents and teachers in shaping young minds, he remarked, "The programme was thoughtfully organized, and it was heartening to see the effort being put into the holistic development of children.

Such initiatives not only inspire young minds to become responsible citizens but also reinforce the values of compassion, creativity, and sustainability. I truly appreciate the efforts of the College in organizing this meaningful event. I wish the Principal, faculty, and students continued success in all their future endeavours and look forward to many more such impactful initiatives."

Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal, Government College of Education, congratulated the participants for their enthusiastic involvement and successful completion of the workshop. She encouraged them to remain focused on their goals, uphold strong values, and strive to become confident, compassionate, and responsible citizens.

She also appreciated the efforts of the resource persons and volunteers and thanked the Chief Guest, the District Education Officer, school principals, teachers, and the Education Department for their support in making the workshop a grand success.
