Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today demanded resignation of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the serial bomb blasts taking place in Punjab and the government and the police remaining clueless about it. Warring also welcomed the FBI action against the gangsters operating from the US and targeting Indians.

He particularly hailed the identification of a Punjab Police cop who has been found having extorted $4 lakh dollars and has been accused of intimidating people. Reacting to a bomb attack on a Moga Police station, Warring in an informal interaction with reporters here today, said that Bhagwant Mann has completely failed as the Chief Minister and Home Minister of Punjab.

He observed that the state government was taking these blasts casually as if it was business as usual. He referred to some earlier blasts also which took place in Jalandhar and Amritsar over a month ago.

He also questioned the role of Punjab Police in being unable to tackle the incidents of repeated bomb blasts in Punjab. “IF the police stations are not safe and they are being repeatedly targeted with nobody having any fear of law, imagine the plight of the common man”, he remarked.

Replying to a question on the FBI action against the gangster network operating from the US, he said, it was a welcome move as the gangsters will no longer have safe shelters anywhere. He suggested that the Punjab Police must take the cue from the FBI and take similar action in Punjab also.

To a question on a police inspector having reportedly extorted $4 lakh from some people, he said, Congress has been consistently maintaining that the gangsters were being helped and supported by the Police and this was the proof.  Warring said he had also written a letter to the union Home Minister Amit Shah, flagging the concern over deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab.
