Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora on Thursday appealed to the people of Punjab to actively participate in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being conducted by the Election Commission of India, saying every eligible voter must complete the verification process to ensure that their voting rights remain protected and they continue to receive the benefits of various welfare schemes of the Punjab Government.

Addressing a press conference, AAP Punjab President.Aman Arora said the SIR exercise is an extensive verification process aimed at updating electoral rolls. He urged every voter in Punjab to cooperate with the authorities and complete the required formalities before the stipulated deadline.

He said that almost every welfare scheme launched by the CM Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government is linked to the identity of the beneficiary as a registered voter of the state. “Whether it is the Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, the ₹10 lakh health insurance scheme, food-related welfare programmes or various pension schemes, the benefits are meant for eligible residents of Punjab whose identity is duly verified,” he said.

Aman Arora said CM Bhagwant Singh Mann had also appealed to the people to ensure that their names remain on the voters’ list. “The Bhagwant Mann government has launched numerous people-centric welfare schemes during the last four and a half years.

We want every eligible beneficiary to continue receiving these benefits without any interruption. Therefore, it is extremely important that every genuine voter completes the verification process and safeguards their vote,” he said.

Expressing concern over the revision process, Aman Arora said the BJP had earlier misused similar exercises in other states for political gains. He asserted that the AAP does not want even a single genuine voter in Punjab to lose their voting rights.

He appealed to all citizens not to treat the exercise merely as a voter verification process but as an important step to secure their continued access to welfare schemes and public services being provided by the Punjab Government. Aman Arora further informed that the AAP has deployed Booth Level Agents (BLA-1 and BLA-2) across Punjab to assist citizens in completing the verification process.

“AAP karyakartas are available at the booth level to help voters with any documentation or procedural requirements so that no genuine vote is deleted,” he added.
