With an objective to further strengthen the Punjab Government's 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' (War Against Drugs) campaign, Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, Mr. Dalwinderjit Singh, today chaired an important review meeting with volunteers of Nasha Mukti Morcha and officers of various departments at his office. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr. Surinder Singh and Mr. Dikshat Dhawan, In-charge of Nasha Mukti Morcha, Majha Zone, were also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the functioning and progress of the district's Opioid Assisted Treatment (OAT) Centres and obtained detailed information regarding the treatment being provided to individuals affected by drug addiction. He directed the concerned officers to ensure that all patients receive timely treatment and the necessary medical and rehabilitation facilities without any delay.
The functioning of the Swami Vivekananda De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre was also reviewed in detail, and necessary directions were issued to further strengthen rehabilitation services. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Dalwinderjit Singh said that regular reviews are essential for the effective implementation of the Punjab Government's anti-drug campaign.
He informed that review meetings will now be held every 15 days to closely monitor the progress of the campaign and ensure timely corrective measures wherever required.On the occasion, Mr. Dikshat Dhawan, In-charge of Nasha Mukti Morcha, Majha Zone, said that volunteers of the Morcha are working round the clock to make the 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' campaign a success.
He said that special awareness drives are being conducted to educate the youth about the harmful effects of drugs, while those trapped in addiction are being motivated to quit drugs and are being admitted to de-addiction centres for treatment. He further stated that volunteers are working closely with the Government at the grassroots level to eradicate the menace of drugs completely.
He reiterated that Nasha Mukti Morcha will continue to extend every possible support in making Punjab a drug-free state and restoring the glory of Rangla Punjab. He also emphasized the need to further strengthen public awareness and community participation in the campaign against drugs.
Officers of various departments were also present during the meeting and shared their suggestions regarding the ongoing anti-drug campaign and the future action plan. District In-charge of Nasha Mukti Morcha Amritsar Urban, Mr. Honey Nahar, along with Mr. Ranjit Singh, Mr. Kuldeep Singh, and Mr. Sukhdeep Singh, was also present on the occasion.
