Fulfilling its final election guarantee, the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann today launched the Maaan-Dhiyan Satkar Scheme, under which ₹1,500 per month has been credited to the bank accounts of women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category, while ₹1,000 per month has been transferred to women belonging to the General and other categories.
During a special state-level function, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann digitally initiated the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), transferring crores of rupees directly into the bank accounts of lakhs of women across Punjab.To mark the occasion, Punjab Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. organized a programme at Royal Farm, Village Udo Nangal (near Mehta Chowk), where a large LED screen was installed to enable women from the Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency to virtually witness the Chief Minister launching the scheme.
Congratulating the women on the launch of the Maaan-Dhiyan Satkar Scheme, Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. said that the Aam Aadmi Party Government has fulfilled the promise it had made to the women of Punjab. He stated that under the scheme, women belonging to the Scheduled Caste category have received ₹1,500 per month, while women of the General and all other categories have been credited ₹1,000 per month directly into their bank accounts.
He further informed that, in a significant initiative, the government has released the assistance for three months together, covering July, August and September. He added that the honorarium has started reaching the beneficiaries' bank accounts from today itself.
The Cabinet Minister said that the scheme is now a permanent welfare initiative and will continue in the future. He remarked that by implementing this scheme, the Punjab Government has enhanced the dignity and financial empowerment of women, emphasizing that the daughters and sisters of Punjab are second to none in any field.
He further stated that for the first time in Punjab, a government has ensured that "public money reaches the people directly," while effectively curbing corruption through transparent governance.Meanwhile, a large number of women present at the programme warmly welcomed the launch of the Maaan-Dhiyan Satkar Scheme. Expressing their gratitude to Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, they said that the financial assistance would not only provide economic support but would also enhance their dignity and strengthen their role in society.
