With governance becoming increasingly data driven, interdisciplinary, and outcome oriented, India is witnessing a growing demand for professionals capable of designing evidence based public policies. To address this emerging requirement, Lovely Professional University (LPU), in collaboration with the Centre for Research in Schemes and Policies (CRISP), has launched specialized three year B.Sc. (Public Policy) and two year M.Sc. (Public Policy) programmes to prepare the next generation of policy professionals and governance leaders.

Designed to prepare students for impactful careers in governance, public administration, development organizations, think tanks, NGOs, consulting, and policy research, the programmes focus on policy analysis, governance frameworks, public administration, evidence based decision making, leadership development, and policy design.

Through case studies, research projects, field exposure, and interactions with policy practitioners, students will be equipped to understand national and global policy challenges and contribute meaningfully to public service and governance ecosystems. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, stated, "The quality of public policy ultimately depends on the quality of thinking that shapes it.

As governance becomes increasingly interdisciplinary, the ability to interpret evidence, understand institutions, anticipate long term societal outcomes, and design implementable solutions will define tomorrow's leaders. Universities must therefore educate not merely administrators, but critical thinkers capable of bridging research, governance, and public interest. LPU’s collaboration with CRISP reflects this larger academic responsibility."

The programmes are guided by an eminent advisory panel of distinguished policymakers and former senior civil servants, bringing extensive experience in governance and public administration. The panel includes R. Subrahmanyam, former Secretary to the Government of India (Higher Education and Social Justice); Sitaram J. Kunte, former Chief Secretary of Maharashtra; Usha Sharma, former Chief Secretary of Rajasthan and former Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs; Dr. Vijay Raghavan, Project Lead at CRISP; K.S. Srinivas, former IAS officer and Deputy CEO of CRISP; and Radhey Shyam Julaniya (IAS Retd.), Chairperson, Centre for Public Policy & Administrative Research (C-PAR), LPU, and former Secretary to the Government of India.

Students will undertake mandatory policy internships with government departments, policy think tanks, development organisations, research institutions, and governance bodies, enabling them to experience first hand how public policy is conceived, implemented, monitored, and evaluated. Complementing this experiential approach is LPU's distinctive "Earn Your Fee Back" philosophy, through which students can participate in consultancy assignments, funded research projects, entrepreneurial ventures, and live policy engagements, allowing them to graduate with both academic credentials and meaningful professional experience.

With only the last few days remaining for admissions to the 2026 academic session, LPU has encouraged aspiring students to complete their applications at the earliest.
