Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh called for a holistic approach to medical education and healthcare delivery, emphasizing the need for India to adopt a "whole-of-nation healthcare system." He urged medical professionals, policymakers, researchers and industry leaders to work collectively to ensure that every citizen has access to healthcare that is accessible, affordable, ethical and of the highest quality.

Addressing the ninth edition of the Times Now Doctors' Day Conclave in New Delhi today, the Governor said that India has made remarkable progress in the fields of medical technology, research and expanding access to healthcare services.

However, he emphasized that significant challenges still remain, including the need to strengthen rural healthcare infrastructure, provide greater support for the mental well-being of doctors, and create an ecosystem where every medical professional is respected, protected and empowered to deliver healthcare with excellence.

Congratulating the Times Now Group for organizing the conclave, the Governor expressed confidence that the deliberations would translate into impactful policies, innovative solutions and inclusive initiatives, laying a strong foundation for a healthier and more equitable India for generations to come.

Referring to this year's theme, "A Life of Care, A Legacy of Light," Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said it aptly captures the spirit of selfless service and unwavering commitment that defines the medical fraternity. He said that more than 13 lakh registered allopathic doctors are serving a population of 1.4 billion, adding that behind every statistic is a doctor who sacrifices personal comfort to save lives and instill hope in patients.

On the occasion, the Governor paid tribute to Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, saying that his life and work continue to inspire generations of medical professionals. He said that Dr. Roy's enduring legacy reminds us that medicine is not merely a profession, but a noble calling dedicated to the service of humanity.

Highlighting India's evolving healthcare landscape, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that although more than 70 per cent of the country's population is below the age of 42, India is steadily moving towards an ageing society due to rising life expectancy.

He said that the country is simultaneously confronting a growing burden of diseases and emerging health challenges, making it imperative to further strengthen the healthcare system and prepare it to effectively meet future needs. The First Lady of Haryana, Smt. Mitra Ghosh, along with several other dignitaries was also present on the occasion.
