Deputy Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today launched the National Immunisation Day Pulse Polio Campaign at the District Hospital, Reasi. A total of 384 vaccination booths have been established across the district. The administration has set a target of vaccinating around 59,000 to 60,000 children during the drive, which will continue over the next two days.
Mobile teams have been deployed to conduct door-to-door visits so that no eligible child is left uncovered. The Deputy Commissioner said the district-wide campaign aims to administer oral polio vaccine drops to all children below five years of age. He stressed that although India has achieved polio-free status, continued vigilance and public participation remain crucial to sustaining it.
The DC appealed to parents and guardians to bring every child below five years of age to the nearest vaccination booth or to avail the services of the visiting mobile teams, so that every eligible child receives the polio vaccine. Among those present were Medical Superintendent Dr Karamveer Singh, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer and other officers concerned.
