The Punjab Government has announced free residential National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF)-linked skill development programmes for Scheduled Caste (SC) youth aimed at enhancing employment and livelihood opportunities across the state.

Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the initiative reflects the commitment of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government towards empowering Scheduled Caste youth through skill development, employment generation and inclusive growth.

The Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, Punjab is offering training in two industry-linked courses “Care-Giver–Mother and New Born” and “Elderly Care Taker”. The training programmes will commence from July 1 at centres in Ludhiana and Jalandhar, selected through the Punjab Skill Development Mission.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said that eligible candidates will be provided free residential accommodation, food, training kits and certification from a national body. She added that no fee will be charged from eligible candidates and the entire cost of the training programmes will be borne by the Government.

The Minister informed that candidates who have passed at least Matriculation (10th standard), belong to the Scheduled Caste category and are permanent residents of Punjab are eligible to apply for the programmes. She further said that the courses have been designed to provide industry experience, practical skills and placement support to participants, thereby promoting employment generation and livelihood enhancement among Scheduled Caste communities in Punjab.

“Skill development has the power to change lives. When a young person acquires skills and secures employment, it not only strengthens his or her future but also brings confidence, stability and hope to the entire family. The Punjab Government is committed to ensuring that every deserving youth gets an opportunity to build a better future,” said Dr. Baljit Kaur.

Interested candidates can submit their details via email at [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected]. They may also approach the District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer of their respective district for any additional information or guidance regarding the training programmes.
