In a heartfelt gesture ahead of the prestigious Women’s Under-20 Handball World Championship 2026 to be held in China, Shri Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, today met the players and coaching staff of Team India and extended his best wishes as they prepare to represent the nation on the global stage.

Interacting with the players and coaches, the Deputy Commissioner commended their dedication, discipline and relentless hard work. He appreciated the rigorous training and preparation undertaken by the team and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver an outstanding performance at the championship. 

He also acknowledged the invaluable contribution of the coaching staff in nurturing talent and building a strong and competitive team capable of excelling at the international level. Shri Nishant Kumar Yadav reiterated the commitment of the Chandigarh Administration towards the promotion of sports and assured the team of all possible support in their sporting journey.

Addressing the players, the Deputy Commissioner said:

“Every player in this team carries the hopes, dreams and pride of a billion people. When you step onto the court, you do not just represent yourselves; you represent the spirit of India. 

Play with pride, compete with courage and whatever may come, triumph with honour. Chandigarh stands with you every step of the way. We believe in you.” The players and coaching staff expressed their gratitude for the encouragement and support extended by the Deputy Commissioner. 

The interaction infused the team with renewed confidence and enthusiasm ahead of the championship. The coaching staff also briefed him about the team’s preparations and expressed optimism regarding India’s prospects in the tournament.

As a token of encouragement and best wishes, the Deputy Commissioner presented a special memento to Team India carrying the message:

“Best Wishes to Team India!

Women’s Under-20 Handball World Championship 2026 - Play with Pride. Compete with Courage. Triumph with Honour.”

The gesture was warmly received by the players and coaches and served as a source of inspiration as Team India embarks on its quest for international glory.
