Youth Akali Dal president and Ghanaur halqa in-charge Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer's historic ten-day paidal march 'Bolega Ghanaur, Badlega Daur' concluded on Monday at Dhakansu Kalan village, marking the end of an emotionally charged and politically significant journey through the Ghanaur constituency.

Addressing a large gathering at Dhakansu Kalan, Jhinjer said that the march, which commenced on May 30, had covered over 220 kilometres and passed through more than 100 villages. He added that panchayats from over 180 villages had joined the march along the way, significantly expanding its reach and reinforcing its message.

Jhinjer thanked circle presidents, Shiromani Akali Dal leaders, Youth Akali Dal members, and the people of Ghanaur for making the march a resounding success.Jhinjer said that the June 1 to June 6 phase of his 10-day paidal march held profound significance, as it coincided with the anniversary of the 1984 Ghallughara (Operation Blue Star).

Jhinjer said that during these days, the marchers paid solemn homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defence of the Sikh Panth. As a mark of protest against the actions of the then-Congress government, participants wore black bands on their turbans throughout this period.

The YAD chief also shared that during the journey through Ghanaur, he met with several Dharmi Faujis—Sikh soldiers who had abandoned their Indian Army posts in June 1984 to march toward Sri Akal Takht Sahib in protest. Jhinjer said that during the march, people from across the constituency came forward and shared their grievances.

"Key issues raised included broken roads, kutcha houses, the drug menace, a deteriorating law and order situation, sewage problems, and an acute drinking water crisis. Residents from the Ghaggar belt raised concerns over unrepaired flood breaches from the 2023 floods, while government employees and pensioners flagged the long-pending release of outstanding Dearness Allowance.

Villagers also complained about the non-release of development grants, denial of benefits under the Atta Dal and Shagun schemes, and a host of other administrative failures affecting daily life," Jhinjer said.Jhinjer alleged that the AAP government attempted to suppress the voices of the people during the march because it was shaken by the sight of Ghanaur's residents taking to the streets in large numbers to demand justice.

Reflecting on the emotional weight of the journey, Jhinjer said the march had moved him deeply. "Mothers came forward and wept while sharing their grievances," he said, adding that those moments only strengthened his resolve to fight for the people of Ghanaur.

At the concluding gathering, the youth of Ghanaur presented Jhinjer with a tractor 5911 as a mark of honour and appreciation. Deeply moved by the gesture, Jhinjer declared that he would dedicate the tractor not for personal use, but entirely for the service of the people and the developmental work of the Ghanaur constituency.

Jhinjer declared that the march had created history — not just in Ghanaur, but in Punjab. "When no one was willing to listen to the problems of the people, a paidal march took to the roads of Ghanaur and awakened the government. The coming generations will remember this march for decades," he said.

He warned the AAP government that the people of Ghanaur had now awakened and would leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice. Jhinjer assured the gathering that he would raise every grievance heard during the march with the administration and would ensure that the people of Ghanaur receive the justice they deserve.

Present on the occasion were Jathedar Surjit Singh Garhi, Interim Committee Member of the SGPC; Jathedar Jasmer Singh Lachhru, Member of the SGPC; Jagmeet Singh Hariau, District President; Jathedar Lal Singh, Senior Leader; Ranjit Singh Rana, Senior Leader; Sadhu Singh, Leader, among other prominent personalities.
