Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, today presided over a Mahila Jan Sunwai at Panchayat Ghar Chanderkote. The programme was organised by the District Administration Ramban to provide a dedicated platform for women to voice their concerns, seek redressal of grievances and obtain information about welfare schemes and public services.

The event saw participation from a large number of women from Chanderkote and adjoining areas, who interacted with the district administration and raised issues relating to public services, basic amenities, welfare schemes, health, education, livelihood opportunities, infrastructure development and other community concerns.

Among those present were Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Varunjeet Singh Charak, Dy SP Headquarters Waqar Bhat, Tehsildar Ramban Deep Kumar, District Social Welfare Officer Sahil Bagotra, Tehsildar Headquarters Reejuta Mahajan, Block Development Officer Ramban, representatives of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and officers from various line departments.

The Deputy Commissioner listened to the grievances and suggestions put forth by the women participants. He resolved most issues on the spot by issuing directions to the concerned officers. For matters requiring further examination or departmental intervention, he directed the concerned departments to take immediate action and ensure time-bound resolution.

The Deputy Commissioner urged women to actively join the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan and contribute towards making Ramban a drug-free district. He emphasised the vital role of women in spreading awareness against substance abuse and safeguarding future generations from the menace of drugs.

The women participants expressed satisfaction over the opportunity to directly interact with senior district officers and present their concerns before the administration. Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated the District Administration's commitment to inclusive development and accessible platforms for women to raise their issues.

He emphasised that women play a vital role in social and economic development and that their active participation in governance is essential for building a progressive society. He also urged women to avail themselves of various government welfare schemes and directed officers to ensure wider awareness and effective outreach among eligible beneficiaries.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that such initiatives help bridge the gap between the administration and the public by bringing governance closer to the people and ensuring transparent and accountable grievance redressal.

Representatives of the DLSA briefed participants about their legal rights and the availability of free legal aid services. Officers from various departments highlighted schemes and initiatives being implemented for the welfare and socio-economic empowerment of women.
