Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh inaugurated a modern girls’ hostel built at a cost of ₹10 crore in Patiala. Ajitpal Singh Kohli was also specially present on the occasion. He stated that the hostel will provide safe, convenient, and comfortable residential facilities to female students. 

The hostel has been equipped with modern rooms, clean facilities, security arrangements, and a suitable study environment to provide students with a homely atmosphere. Dr. Balbir Singh said that the Punjab Government is continuously making efforts to strengthen and modernize the health and education sectors in the state. 

He stated that the government’s main objective is to provide high-quality facilities to the youth so they can progress in their education and careers. He added that special attention is being given to new schemes and infrastructure development for students in Punjab. 

MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli also appreciated the initiative and said that the hostel would prove highly beneficial for female students. Dr. Balbir Singh also inaugurated and launched several important development and awareness projects in the rural areas of Patiala. 

During this, he initiated the construction work of streets in Ward No. 3, which had been a long-pending demand of local residents. He informed that four streets would be constructed in Patiala Rural’s Ward No. 3 at a cost of approximately ₹49.04 lakh. 

He said that these streets would provide major relief to residents regarding transportation and sanitation. The Health Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is continuously carrying out development works to strengthen basic amenities in every ward and village. 

The government’s main objective is to provide better roads, sanitation, drinking water, and other essential facilities to the people. Thereafter, the Health Minister flagged off two awareness e-auto rickshaws at Patiala Panchayat Bhawan under the “War Against Drugs” 

These e-auto rickshaws will travel through villages and urban areas of Patiala Rural to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drugs. Through audio messages and posters, the vehicles will encourage people to quit drugs and inspire youth towards a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Balbir Singh stated that the Punjab Government is fully committed to making Punjab drug-free. He informed that a complaint box has also been installed to ensure public participation, through which every person can share information, suggestions, or complaints. He added that every section of society should contribute to this fight against drugs.

On this occasion, Charanjit S.K., MC Jatinder Kaur, Municipal Corporation Mayor Kundan Gogia, Joint Commissioner Manreet Rana, Punjab Agro Foodgrain Corporation Chairman Baljinder Dhillon, Jasbir Gandhi, Yashpal Sharma, Suresh Rai, along with a large number of local residents, were present.
