In a major boost to rural sports infrastructure, an ultra-modern sports ground constructed at a cost of approximately ₹40 lakh in village Bhasaur of the Dhuri constituency was today dedicated to the public by Sukhveer Singh, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister. Prominent dignitaries present on the occasion included Chairman of the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation Dalvir Singh Dhillon, Chairman Market Committee Dhuri Rajwant Singh Ghuli, Wakf Board Member Dr. Anwar Bhasaur, Zila Parishad Member Rachhpal Singh, Harjinder Singh Kanjhla, Gagan Jwandha, and several other leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Sukhveer Singh stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, 250 sports grounds are being dedicated to the public across the state through a virtual programme today. He further informed that by July 15, as many as 3,100 sports grounds and stadiums will be completed across Punjab, providing world-class facilities to rural youth and enabling them to excel at national and international levels.

Encouraging young talent, he lauded Class 8 student Sehj for her achievements at the national level, noting that her accomplishments at a young age serve as an inspiration for other children. He emphasized that the Chief Minister’s vision is to actively engage youth in sports and channel their energy in a constructive direction.

He also informed that, along with Dhuri block, another sports ground was inaugurated today in village Innabajwa of Sherpur block, and sports equipment was distributed among local players. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Dalvir Singh Dhillon highlighted that the Punjab Government has taken significant steps to strengthen both education and sports at the grassroots level.

Alongside establishing libraries in villages to promote reading habits, the government has developed modern sports grounds to encourage youth participation, with encouraging results already visible. International veteran player and Chairman Rajwant Singh Ghuli emphasized that sports play a crucial role in overall human development, contributing to both physical fitness and mental strength.

He urged children and youth to make full use of the newly developed facility and practice regularly. Dr. Anwar Bhasaur, Wakf Board Member and a resident of the village, stated that over the past four years, village Bhasaur has received grants exceeding ₹4 crore under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

These investments have enabled the development of key infrastructure, including a library, community centre, and the newly built sports ground, bringing urban-level amenities to the village. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, youth, and sports enthusiasts.

Among those present were BDPO Sukhwinder Singh, Paramjit Kaur, Bahadur Singh, Karamjit Singh, Advocate Happy Garg, and a large number of villagers, who welcomed the initiative and expressed satisfaction over the development works.
