Marking the historic decision of the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to implement a stringent law against the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, thanksgiving ceremonies were organized across villages in the Dhuri constituency, including Mulowal and Rajomajra. On the occasion, members of the sangat organized recitations of Sri Sukhmani Sahib and offered Ardas, expressing profound gratitude to Waheguru.
The congregation emotionally expressed thanks to the Almighty for entrusting this significant responsibility to the Chief Minister and described the new legislation as a major step toward safeguarding the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. Addressing the gathering, Chairman of the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation, Dalvir Singh Dhillon, paid obeisance at local Gurdwaras and termed the government’s decision a historic and decisive move against sacrilege.
He highlighted that the law provides for stringent punishment, including life imprisonment and a fine of up to ₹25 lakh for acts of sacrilege, making it one of the toughest laws in the country. Chairman Dhillon emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government remains fully committed to respecting religious sentiments and will not tolerate any act of sacrilege.
He expressed confidence that the enforcement of this law will act as a strong deterrent and help prevent such incidents in the future. During the ceremonies, the sangat honored Chairman Dalvir Singh Dhillon and other prominent leaders with siropas.
A large number of devotees, local residents, and party representatives were present and wholeheartedly welcomed the government’s decision.
