Leaders and volunteers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a protest in Dhuri on Sunday, burning the effigy of Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha. The demonstration saw participation from a large number of party workers and local residents, who raised slogans to express their dissent.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman of Punjab Small Industries & Export Corporation Dalvir Singh Dhillon alleged that seven Rajya Sabha members had acted against the interests of Punjab. He said such actions were unacceptable and would not be forgotten by the people of the state, who would respond through democratic means.
He said that those perceived to be compromising Punjab’s interests would not be accepted by the public. Emphasising democratic accountability, he noted that people ultimately deliver their verdict at the appropriate time.
Chairman of Market Committee, Dhuri, Rajwant Singh Ghulli said the protest was a reflection of public sentiment. He added that the people of Punjab remain strongly connected to their land and rights, and any attempt to undermine them would be firmly opposed.
Leaders collectively stated that Punjab’s interests remain paramount and cannot be compromised under any circumstances. They added that such demonstrations would continue as a means of expressing public concern. During the protest, participants burned an effigy to register their dissent and reiterated their commitment to safeguarding Punjab’s interests.
Those present included Pushpinder Sharma, Naresh Singla, Darshan Singh Pathak, Veerbhan, Sukhpal Singh Pala, Baldev Khalsa, Ajaib Singh Happy, Harpreet Gill and Tarsem Kalsi, among others, along with party volunteers.
