OSD to the Chief Minister, Sukhvir Singh, today visited the gaushala in village Harchandpura to review on-ground arrangements and assess the situation following a recent fire incident. He interacted with the gaushala management and local residents to take detailed stock of the damage and the challenges arising thereafter.
A few days ago, a fire broke out in the stored fodder at the gaushala, leading to substantial loss of cattle feed. Conducting an on-site assessment, Sukhvir Singh emphasized that the care, safety and well-being of the animals remain the top priority, and assured that no gaps would be allowed in their upkeep.
He directed the concerned authorities to ensure the immediate availability of fodder and to initiate necessary steps for compensating the losses. Stressing long-term safeguards, he also underlined the need to strengthen fire-prevention measures, including improved storage practices, adequate water arrangements and essential safety equipment.
Sukhvir Singh stated that the Punjab Government is fully committed to supporting gaushalas and will extend all required assistance without delay. He assured that every effort will be made to restore normalcy at the earliest and to further strengthen the infrastructure of the facility.
Members of the gaushala management apprised him of the difficulties being faced after the incident and expressed gratitude for his prompt visit and support. Among those present were Chairman of Punjab Gau Sewa Commission Ashok Lakhha, Gaushala Committee Treasurer Basant Kumar, Chaudhary Pawan Kumar Verma, Advocate Brij Bhushan, Tek Bahadur, along with other members of the gaushala management.
