In continuation of its sustained efforts to combat drug abuse under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan”, the District Police Poonch organized a public awareness programme at Bus Stand Poonch, aimed at sensitizing the general public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a drug-free society.

The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Shafket Hussain, along with other senior officers of civil administration and police. The event featured an engaging cultural programme, including a Nukkad Natak (street play), presented by artists from Saraswati Sangeet Kala Kendra, highlighting the dangers of drug addiction and its far-reaching consequences on individuals, families and society.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the need for active public participation in the ongoing anti-drug campaign and urged citizens to contribute towards making it a grand success. They highlighted the ill effects of drug abuse and called upon the public to remain vigilant.

The gathering was also encouraged to report any instances of drug peddling or substance abuse to the authorities, with assurance of strict action against those found involved. The dignitaries felicitated the artists for their valuable contribution to spreading awareness through cultural means.
