A wedding celebration in Barwani district ended in heartbreak when a road accident claimed five lives and left three others seriously injured. The incident occurred near the toll plaza on Khargone Road in Julwaniya on Monday afternoon, where a speeding tanker collided head-on with a car returning from a wedding procession.

The impact was severe, reducing the car to mangled wreckage and leaving families devastated. According to police officials, the victims had travelled from Jalgaon near Rajpur to attend the wedding festivities. On their way back, the car ran out of diesel, prompting them to refuel before continuing.

As they returned, an out-of-control tanker coming from Khargone rammed into their vehicle with tremendous force. The collision instantly killed three passengers, while another succumbed to injuries during treatment at the Primary Health Centre in Julwaniya.

The deceased have been identified as Sachin Gokul Vaskale, 25, of Patelpura Sakad village; Pradumya, son of Gulichand Sahate, 25, of Salkheda; Pappu, son of Hiralal, 29, of Limbai; and Akash, son of Dayaram, 25, of Ralamandal (Indore). The fifth person, who died in a private hospital, has been identified as Yashwant Supadia, a resident of Jalgaon.

The injured include Suresh Mangilal, a resident of Devjhiri, and Sohan Jhabar, a resident of Salkheda. The victims remained trapped for more than an hour in the wreckage of their car. Their sudden deaths have cast a pall of grief over their respective villages, where wedding joy has turned into mourning.

Local authorities rushed to the scene and facilitated the transfer of the injured to nearby medical facilities. The tanker driver’s role in the accident is under investigation, with police examining whether negligence or mechanical failure was involved. The tragedy has sparked renewed concern over reckless driving and road safety in the region, particularly on highways where heavy vehicles often speed unchecked.
