As part of the ongoing efforts by the Punjab Government to address the concerns of the trading community, a significant meeting was organized today by the District Administration, Amritsar, at the District Administrative Complex. The meeting was attended by Member of the Punjab State Traders Commission, Mr. Sheetal Juneja, representatives of the Traders Commission at district and constituency levels, traders, and shopkeepers.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Dalwinderjit Singh. While presiding over the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials of various departments to resolve complaints and issues related to traders on a priority basis.
He stated that the Punjab Government has developed a dedicated portal www.punjabdisewa.com for the redressal of traders’ grievances, where traders can register their complaints. Providing details, he informed that a total of 196 complaints related to District Amritsar have been received on the portal, out of which 153 have already been resolved, while action is underway on the remaining complaints.
He instructed officials to ensure prompt and time-bound disposal of every complaint and emphasized that regular reviews of these complaints are also conducted at the state level. The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need to improve traffic management in market areas.
He directed officials to ensure adequate arrangements for public toilets, sanitation, and availability of drinking water in markets. During the meeting, various other issues raised by traders were also discussed, and the Deputy Commissioner assured their early resolution.
On this occasion, Member of the Punjab State Traders Commission, Mr. Sheetal Juneja, stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government is continuously making efforts to attract investment and further strengthen a business-friendly environment. He said that traders are the backbone of the state’s economy, and safeguarding their interests is the government’s top priority.
He further informed that a three-tier system (constituency, district, and state level) has been established through the Traders Commission for the effective redressal of traders’ issues. He added that the Commission is actively bringing traders’ concerns to the notice of the district administration for prompt resolution.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Additional Commissioner (General) Mr. Rohit Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Ms. Parmjeet Kaur, Additional Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr. Jai Inder Singh, SDM Amritsar-1 Ms. Alka Kalia, SDM Mr. Rajneesh Arora, SDM Mr. Ashok Kumar, SDM Mr. Jashanpreet Singh, SDM Mr. Khushpreet Singh, Assistant Commissioner Ms. Pragati Sethi, DFSC Ms. Harveen Kaur, along with officials from various departments and Members of the Traders Commission including Mr. Abhishek Bansal, Mr. Vineet Aneja, Manjeet Singh, Sanjeev Kumar, Rohil Khanna, and Ramesh Awasthi.
