Deputy Commissioner Ms. Komal Mittal today conducted a comprehensive review of the issues raised by traders during recent District Traders’ Commission meetings and directed all concerned departments to accord top priority to their resolution. She also instructed officials to promptly update the status of each case on the designated online portal.

The review meeting was held in the presence of Chairman Mr. Ranjit Pal Singh and Vice Chairman Mr. Tarlochan Singh Baidwan of the District Traders’ Commission, SAS Nagar, along with Mohali Constituency Chairman Mr. Akvinder Singh Gosal and Kharar Constituency Chairman Mr. Yashpal Bansal.

Addressing the officers, the Deputy Commissioner noted that the stipulated timeline of 30 days for resolving non-policy matters has already elapsed. She emphasized that departments must reflect the progress made on the online portal without any further delay.

Ms. Mittal highlighted that several issues raised by traders pertain to basic civic amenities, including installation and maintenance of streetlights, removal of encroachments, marking of parking spaces in markets, repair of sewerage leakages, and easing traffic congestion on specific roads.  She stated that these matters fall within the purview of local authorities and can be addressed at the district level in a timely manner.

Reiterating the commitment of the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, she said that the administration is duty-bound to proactively address the concerns of traders and ensure their timely resolution. Citing examples from markets in Phase 3B2, Phase 3B1, Phase 7, and Phases 4 and 5, the Deputy Commissioner underlined that most issues are local in nature and require prompt departmental response.

She added that the formation of Traders’ Committees aims to facilitate ease of doing business and it is imperative to resolve traders’ grievances on priority. Chairman Mr. Ranjit Pal Singh informed that the online portal has been upgraded as per departmental requirements and urged all departments to regularly update the status of grievances. He also stated that regular meetings with traders and shopkeepers will soon resume to gather feedback, suggestions, and complaints.

He described the platform provided by the Punjab Government as an effective mechanism for traders to present their issues directly before the concerned authorities. DSP (Traffic) Mr. Karnail Singh assured that all traffic and police-related concerns would be addressed within a stipulated timeframe.

Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Mohali, Mr. Jasjit Singh informed that the Municipal Corporation has already initiated action on several issues raised and assured their timely resolution. SDM Mohali Ms. Damandeep Kaur and senior officials from various departments were also present during the meeting.
