Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Friday inaugurated the office of Block Development and Panchayat Officer in newly established Koom Kalan block in Sri Bhaini Sahib.

Mundian who is also Sahnewal MLA congratulated the panchayats and local residents and said that earlier they had to go  to Ludhiana for their routine administrative  works but now, with the creation of the new Koom Kalan Block, it will become much easier and more convenient for them to get their work done easily.

He directed BDPO Koom Kalan Rajwinder Singh to complete all pending development works related to block at the earliest so that development projects can be completed. He stated that financial grants are being provided to all panchayats of Koom Kalan Block for development works.

Minister Mundian also added that they have clear instructions from Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to serve the people by becoming true sewadars. Whatever funds were demanded for development works in Sahnewal constituency were immediately provided. He informed that Rs. 13 crore have already been sanctioned for the sewerage system in Sri Bhaini Sahib.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond stated that this office will facilitate the panchayats of Koom Kalan Block as the people will avail government schemes near to their homes. He added that earlier the blocks in Punjab were very large. For example, in one constituency there were 60 villages, out of which 40 would fall in one block and the remaining 20 in another block.

When he took over Rural Development and Panchayat Department department under his charge, he spoke to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and told him that the villages which fall in other blocks neither get proper funds nor do district administration officials pay attention to them. Later, action was taken accordingly.

Sond said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Aam Aadmi Party government is a people-centric and this is the first government that has truly listened to the common people and introduced schemes for their welfare. The schemes include free 24-hour electricity to homes, free quality education in government schools.

Apart from this, Rs 10 lakh health card will save families lakhs of rupees on medical treatment, providing great relief. In the coming days, financial assistance scheme for daughters, sisters, and mothers will start from 13th April on Vaisakhi under which Rs 1000 and Rs 1500 will be given to them.

Block Samiti Koom Kalan Chairman Gurpreet Singh Gopi assured Cabinet Ministers Hardeep Singh Mundian and Tarunpreet Singh Sond that all works in the BDPO office opened on the sacred land of Sri Bhaini Sahib will be done in historic times.
