For the first time in the history of Punjab, a government has fulfilled all the guarantees it made—within just four years, even before completing its full term. The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has created history by achieving this milestone.

These views were expressed by Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal while participating in programmes organised at villages Bhai Ki Pishaur, Lehal Kalan, Ramgarh Sandhuan, and Sekhuwas under the Samvad campaign “Shandar Chaar Saal Bhagwant Mann de naal.” The Cabinet Minister stated that several key welfare schemes have been implemented for the people of Punjab, including a health guarantee of up to Rs10 lakh, financial assistance of Rs1,000 and Rs1,500 to women as a mark of respect, quality education through Schools of Eminence, and free treatment through Aam Aadmi Clinics.

Speaking about farmers’ welfare, he said that, for the first time in Punjab, electricity is being provided for agriculture during the daytime. Additionally, by strengthening the canal system, irrigation water is now reaching nearly 80 percent of the fields, reducing dependence on groundwater and improving the water table.

Highlighting revolutionary changes in Punjab’s irrigation system, Goyal said that canal irrigation, which stood at only 26.50 percent in 2022, has now increased to 78 percent and is expected to reach 86 percent before the upcoming paddy sowing season. Approximately 90 percent of domestic electricity consumers in the state are receiving zero electricity bills, with subsidies of up to 600 units. Moreover, more than 65,000 youths have been provided government jobs on a merit basis.

Under the campaign against drugs, over 90,000 traffickers have been arrested. Significant focus has been placed on road development, with around 45,000 kilometres of roads being renovated. To promote sports among youth, a large number of stadiums are being constructed, and major initiatives are underway to encourage sporting activities.

Goyal further informed that a free pilgrimage scheme has been launched for senior citizens above 50 years of age as a mark of respect. Additionally, a scheme has been introduced to provide essential commodities to needy families, including 2 kg of pulses, 2 kg of sugar, 1 kg of salt, 200 grams of turmeric, and 1 kg of mustard oil.

With the efforts of the Punjab Government, earlier works worth Rs 4 crore were undertaken to strengthen the banks of the Ghaggar River. As a result, even though the river flowed above the danger mark for 10 consecutive days during the 2025 floods, people were largely protected from its impact.

Now, an additional Rs 12.42 crore is being spent to further strengthen the riverbanks. Furthermore, by bringing a medical college to Lehragaga, the Punjab Government has taken a historic step.

This will not only provide better medical facilities to the region but also help fulfil the dreams of local students aspiring to become doctors. The government has also implemented a rational mining policy, ensuring proper management of natural resources while generating economic benefits for the state.

The Cabinet Minister added that during his visits to villages, there are no major demands from the people anymore; instead, people are expressing gratitude towards the Punjab Government. Officials from various departments, dignitaries, and a large number of villagers were present on the occasion.
