The Punjab Vidhan Sabha today saw an unprecedented resolution moved by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sarvjit Kaur Manuke heavily castigating Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira for making highly derogatory remarks against the women benefitted by the grant of Rs. 1000 per month as announced by the Punjab Government.

Earlier, the Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema brought the highly sensitive matter to the notice of the Speaker. The resolution passed by the house also saw Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora, Lal Chand Kataruchak, Harbhajan Singh ETO, Tarunpreet Singh Sond and MLAs Inderjit Kaur Mann, Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Anmol Gagan Mann, Narinder Kaur Bharaj and Jeevanjot Kaur voicing their wholehearted and unequivocal support.

Terming the remarks made on social media by Sukhpal Singh Khaira as totally outrageous to the dignity of women, the resolution termed the remarks not only insulting to the entire women especially those belonging to Dalit community but an affront to the decorum of the house too. The resolution further stated that the brave sons and martyrs born on the soil of Punjab carry the bravery, sacrifice and values ingrained in them by their mothers.

The greatness of a mother's womb cannot be measured by money at all. The resolution reiterated that every mother deserves respect and no one has got the right to cast aspersions on their dignity.

The resolution condemning the remarks made by Sukhpal Singh Khaira demanded a public apology from the Congress legislator.
