The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is fully committed to strengthening women economically and socially so that they can contribute more significantly to the progress of their families and society. These views were expressed by In-charge Amritsar North Assembly Constituency and Chairman Improvement Trust Amritsar, S. Karamjit Singh Rintu, during the ‘Mahila Udyami Samman’ programme organised under the Punjab Government’s ‘Apna Karobar, Apni Pehchaan’ initiative at Community Hall, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar.

On this occasion, around 100 women entrepreneurs from the Amritsar North Assembly constituency were specially honoured for their remarkable contributions in various fields. Addressing the gathering, S. Rintu said that today women’s participation is increasing rapidly in every important sector of society.

From small household businesses to large companies and industries, women are playing a significant role with their capability and determination. He added that women are also setting new benchmarks in high-end fields such as science, technology and even space exploration.

He further said that many women are becoming economically self-reliant through tiffin services, tailoring, beauty work, salons, handicrafts and various other small businesses, thereby not only strengthening their families financially but also contributing meaningfully to the development of society.

S. Rintu stated that with the aim of encouraging women’s entrepreneurship and promoting small businesses run by women, the Punjab Government has launched the ‘Apna Karobar, Apni Pehchaan’ initiative. The objective of this initiative is to encourage women’s skills and motivate them to stand on their own feet.

He added that such initiatives help instil a sense of pride and confidence among women regarding their work. When they feel that society and the government recognize and appreciate their hard work and contribution, they move forward with greater confidence and determination.

In conclusion, S. Rintu said that the progress of society is possible only when women receive equal opportunities and due respect. The Punjab Government remains committed to the empowerment and advancement of women and will continue to undertake such initiatives in the future.
