In a moment of immense pride for Punjab, Cadet Aryan Dutt of the 8th Course, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI), was commissioned into the prestigious 4 HORSE regiment of Indian Army today during the Passing Out Parade (POP) held at the Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Gaya. The ceremonial parade was reviewed by Lt. Gen. Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, GOC-in-C, Southern Command.

Aryan Dutt, now formally an officer of the Indian Army, is the son of Smt Sangeeta Dutt, a practicing lawyer based in Mohali, and the late Commander Amitabh Dutt. Carrying forward a proud military lineage, Aryan becomes a second-generation officer, following in the footsteps of his father who served as a Commander in the Indian Navy before his untimely demise in 2017.

In a historic first for the institute, Aryan Dutt has become the first cadet from MRSAFPI to be commissioned into the 4 HORSE regiment. The regiment is not only renowned for its gallantry and distinguished service record but also holds a special connection to the institute, being the parent regiment of the founder director of MRSAFPI, Major General BS Grewal, VSM (Retd).

Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Mr. Aman Arora extended heartiest congratulations to Aryan Dutt on his feat, while stating, "Aryan Dutt has brought laurels to his family and the entire state. I exhort him to serve the nation with unwavering dedication and continue to make Punjab proud.

Punjab government is committed to empowering the youth and creating robust pathways for them to excel in the armed forces and beyond," stated the Minister. Major General Ajay H Chauhan, VSM (Retd), Director of MRSAFPI, said that two other cadets from the institute have achieved significant milestones.

Cadet Sukhraj Singh Heera of the 10th Course and Cadet Amritpal Singh of the Cadets Training Wing (CTW) have successfully received joining letters for the SSC (NT)-123 Course. They are scheduled to join the Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai, on March 25, 2026, to begin their training. He said that Aryan Dutt has exemplified the spirit of our motto and his selection into the 4 HORSE is a testament to his caliber and hard work.

Major General Chauhan further informed that the selection process for the 16th Course of MRSAFPI is currently underway. The interview round for candidates, who have qualified in the written examination, is scheduled to commence on March 16, 2026, offering a new batch of aspiring young men a chance to don the uniform.
