Special camps were organized in Amritsar today under the “Apna Krobar Apni Pachna” campaign, which aims to empower women and promote their small businesses. In this regard, a special program was organized in the Central Assembly Constituency, where women running small businesses in various sectors were honored. Speaking on the occasion, Central Assembly Constituency MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta said that this campaign was started especially to promote women.

He said that women constitute about 50 percent of the society and play an important role both in the home and in the society, but their hard work often goes unnoticed. Dr.  Ajay Gupta said that many women are strengthening the financial condition of their families through tailoring, embroidery, beauty parlors, salons, tuition centers and other small businesses from home.

The main objective of this program is to give a new identity to such hardworking women in the society and encourage them. He said that during this camp, a list of more than 100 women from the Central Assembly constituency was prepared and they were honored.

MLA Dr. Gupta said that some of these selected women will also be sent to Chandigarh, where they will be honored on a grand government-level platform. This will not only boost the morale of these women but will also inspire other women to stand on their own feet.

He said that such efforts instill a sense of pride in women towards their work. When they feel that the society and the government are appreciating their hard work, their confidence increases even more.  He further said that the government's aim is to empower women economically and socially so that they can contribute more to the development of their families and society.Babita Jaiswal, Ritu Mahajan, Karuna Anand, Mona Mahajan, Ruchi, Sonia Bahl, Sharda Devi, Jyoti and a large number of women were present on this occasion.
