Leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab, including Cabinet Ministers Lal Chand Kataruchak and Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Saturday visited the native village Gadarian in Dinanagar of martyr ASI Gurnam Singh to express their condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family. Accompanying them were party Working President and Batala MLA Aman Sher Singh Sherry Kalsi and Dera Baba Nanak MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa.

The leaders conveyed the assurance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann that the Punjab Government stands firmly with the family in this hour of grief and will extend every possible support. During this, Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said, “The killing of our brave police personnel, Gurnam Singh and Ashok Kumar, while they were on duty at the Adhiya outpost, was a cowardly act.

This was not merely an attack on the police force, but an attack on the soil of Punjab and on the peace of its people. The sacrifice of our martyrs will not be allowed to go in vain, and the guilty will be given the strictest punishment under the law.”

Speaking about cross-border conspiracies, Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak stated, “Pakistan’s notorious intelligence agency ISI continuously attempts to target India through Punjab. The attacks on the Pathankot Airbase and the Dinanagar police station were part of this design. Pakistan’s hatred-driven intentions will never be allowed to succeed on Punjab’s soil.”

Appealing to the youth, Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said, “I urge the youth of Punjab not to fall prey to the traps and temptations spread by enemy nations. Punjab is the land of Gurus and martyrs, and its unity and brotherhood will not be allowed to be broken at any cost.” He further informed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will soon meet the families of the martyrs and reiterated that the Punjab Government remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against gangsterism and drugs and will not allow anyone to disturb peace and harmony in Punjab.

Meanwhile Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar praised the alertness of the Punjab Police and stated, “Within just 24 hours, the Punjab Police traced and arrested all the accused. This sends a clear message that whoever tampers with law and order or engages in illegal activities will face the strictest action as per the law.”

He added, “As per the directions of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, an ex-gratia amount of ₹1 crore each will be given to the families of both martyred police personnel. In addition, an eligible family member will be provided a government job. The loss of a family member can never be compensated at any cost, but the Punjab Government stands ready 24 hours to provide every possible assistance to their families.”

Targeting the Akali Dal, Congress, and BJP, Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar noted, “These parties are indulging in politics out of fear of the government’s success. Punjab, being a border state, faces repeated attempts to disturb its peace. These parties are, in some way, complicit in such efforts and are working to demoralize the police.”

Aman Sher Singh Sherry Kalsi stated, “Agencies of hostile countries want to vitiate the atmosphere in Punjab. Those who attempt to disturb Punjab’s peace will not be spared. The Punjab Government is committed to eliminating drugs and gangsterism from the roots, and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is working day and night in this direction.”

Attacking the opposition, Aman Sher Singh Sherry Kalsi said, “Whenever an incident occurs, opposition parties immediately go live on social media and begin politicizing it. However, when the Punjab Police arrest the accused within 24 hours, these leaders do not utter a single word in praise of the police.

The people of Punjab must ask whether these leaders truly stand for Punjab’s interests or whether they are supporting the ideology of the ISI and gangsters.”
