Deputy Commissioner Sangrur, Rahul Chaba, held a marathon review meeting with officers of various departments to assess the progress of ongoing and forthcoming development works in the Dhuri constituency. Emphasising the importance of timely execution, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to complete development works within the stipulated timeframe through close inter-departmental coordination, so that public amenities can be delivered efficiently to the citizens.
Rahul Chaba stated that the Hon’ble Chief Minister Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, personally reviews the progress of development and beautification projects in the Dhuri constituency on a daily basis. The Deputy Commissioner instructed officers to conduct regular field inspections to ensure that works are completed on schedule and to the highest standards of quality.
During the meeting, it was informed that a total of 11 major development projects related to the beautification of Dhuri city are targeted for completion within the next two months. Executive Officer, Municipal Council Dhuri, Gurvinder Singh, informed that beautification work of Kranti Chowk is currently underway at a cost of ₹1.41 crore.
He further stated that the tender process for the renovation of the MC Park near the Sabzi Mandi and installation of the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, at a cost of ₹1.09 crore, has been completed. Additionally, the Indoor Sports Hall adjoining the Sabzi Mandi will be upgraded at a cost of ₹27.63 lakh.
He also informed that a “Wild Arena” park will be developed under the ROB (Sangrur side) at Dhuri at a cost of ₹1.03 crore, with the work set to commence shortly. Besides this, beautification and upgradation of entry points to Dhuri city will be undertaken at a cost of ₹1.91 crore from the Malerkotla side, ₹1.70 crore from the Bagrian/Nabha side and ₹2.15 crore from the Sangrur side, with these projects scheduled to begin in the coming days.
Furthermore, Sherpur Chowk under the ROB will be developed and beautified at a cost of ₹3.10 crore. During the meeting, Executive Engineer, Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Rahul Kaushal, briefed the officers about the progress of works at the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).
Executive Engineer, Punjab Mandi Board, Puneet Sharma, shared updates on the construction of the Sports Complex at Kaheru. Meanwhile, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, Ajay Garg, informed that the tender process for the construction of a ROB costing ₹54.76 crore is currently underway and the work will commence shortly.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukhchain Singh, SDM Dhuri Rishabh Bansal, DSP Gurpreet Singh, along with officers from various departments.
