MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta from the Central Assembly constituency today inspected the Women's Hospital located in the Dhab Khatika area along with Civil Surgeon Dr. Satinderjit Singh Bajaj and Municipal Corporation officials. MLA Dr. Gupta said that the hospital, located in the heart of the city, will be upgraded. He said that all kinds of facilities will be provided to the patients visiting this hospital.
He had a detailed discussion with the doctors and staff present at the hospital. The doctors and staff explained in detail the deteriorating security situation at the hospital. MLA Dr. Gupta said that he would meet with Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today itself to get a permanent police check post established inside the hospital.
He said that police personnel would be deployed at this check post day and night. He said that the aot treatment center would be shifted from this hospital to another location. MLA Dr. Gupta instructed Civil Surgeon Dr. Satinderjit Singh Bajaj to appoint specialist doctors for gynecology, medicine, and surgery at the hospital.
He said that all the medical instruments required by the doctors would be provided. He said that all kinds of free medicines would also be available at the chemist shop located in the hospital. Along with this, all types of tests will also be provided free of charge.
This is to ensure that patients visiting the hospital do not face any problems. MLA Dr. Gupta directed the Municipal Corporation officials to completely renovate the hospital. He said that the renovation of the hospital would be done at a cost of approximately Rs. 50 lakhs.
He said that the broken roofs, walls, and floors of the hospital would be repaired. Toilet sets would be installed, and lights would be fitted in the hospital. The hospital would also be repainted. He directed the corporation officials to issue tenders and start the work as soon as possible.
On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Satinderjit Singh Bajaj said that, as MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta had mentioned, this is the oldest hospital in the walled city of Amritsar. He said that this hospital would be upgraded to a mini-civil hospital.
He added that all the facilities available at the civil hospital would be provided here in the coming days. He also said that more specialist doctors would be appointed at the hospital.
