Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh today visited the District Hospital, Mohali to review the treatment being provided to patients under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY) and interacted with patients receiving free medical care under the scheme. During his visit, the MLA greeted Punjab’s first patient treated under MMSY, Mrs Nirmal Kaur (53), a resident of Sunny Enclave, who underwent a successful appendix surgery on January 27. She has since been discharged and visited the hospital today for her follow-up check-up.

While interacting with patients admitted under MMSY, MLA Kulwant Singh said that patients expressed satisfaction with the scheme, which provides quality healthcare facilities without any income criteria. Patients informed him that they reported to the OPD counter with their Aadhaar Card and Voter Card, and were registered promptly on a priority basis under MMSY, enabling them to receive immediate treatment.

Patients Ms Santosh of Balongi and Amandeep Kaur of Kainour (Morinda), who are currently admitted at the hospital, expressed their gratitude to the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government for launching a people-friendly, cashless health insurance scheme providing coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh. Dr Navdeep Saini, Officiating Director Principal, Dr B R Ambedkar Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali, stated that every patient requiring surgery or indoor treatment is being extended the benefit of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana.

He informed that 78 patients are currently undergoing treatment under MMSY at the Mohali District Hospital attached to the Medical College. Interacting with the media, MLA Kulwant Singh said that around 3,500 registrations under MMSY have already been completed in Mohali district.

He assured that all eligible residents possessing Aadhaar Card and Voter Card of Punjab would be registered under the scheme. He further clarified that emergency cases do not require prior registration, as such patients will be registered on the spot by the concerned hospital.

The MLA added that the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, launched by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann in the presence of AAP National Convener Sh. Arvind Kejriwal, will prove to be a boon for the people of Punjab, as medical treatment worth up to Rs 10 lakh will be provided free of cost at empanelled government and private hospitals.

Civil Surgeon Dr Sangita Jain, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Karanbir Singh, and Dr Manish Gupta were also present during the visit.
