PEC EIC & IIC Organize Exposure Visit for MCM DAV College Girl Students

The Entrepreneurship and Incubation Cell (EIC) and IIC of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, organized a special exposure visit today for 60 girl students from MCM DAV College, Chandigarh. The visit aimed at familiarizing young women with innovation, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies through an interactive engagement at the EIC and the 5G Use Case Lab at PEC.

The event was graced by distinguished international and institutional experts, including Prof. Lars Montelius and Dr. Elizabeth Nilsson from Lund University, Sweden, along with Prof. Divya Bansal, Dr. Simranjit Singh (Coordinator, EIC), Dr. Shilpi Chaudhary, Dr. Nidhi Tanwar and Dr. Sudesh Rani (Co-Coordinator, EIC).

The programme commenced with Dr. Simranjit Singh, who provided an overview of Punjab Engineering College and highlighted the vision, objectives, and initiatives of the Entrepreneurship and Incubation Cell. This was followed by an engaging session by Dr. Shilpi Chaudhary on Technology Readiness Levels (TRL), where she explained the TRL scale and introduced the concept of an effective elevator pitch, emphasizing its importance in transforming ideas into viable innovations.

Prof. Lars delivered an insightful talk on Technology Transfer from Academic Institutions, sharing global perspectives and best practices for translating academic research into real-world applications. Adding a strong motivational dimension, Dr. Elizabeth addressed the students on the role of female participation in science and technology, encouraging them to pursue careers in STEM while also underscoring the importance of sustainability in innovation.

Further enriching the session, Prof. Divya Bansal spoke on the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Startups, discussing the AI revolution in the startup ecosystem, key driving factors, and emerging opportunity landscapes, supported by relevant case studies. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sudesh Rani, acknowledging the speakers, organizers, and participating students. 

The visit culminated with a guided tour of the Entrepreneurship and Incubation Cell and the 5G Use Case Lab, providing the students with hands-on exposure to cutting-edge technological facilities at PEC. Dr. Simranjit Singh said more number of events with team will be organized by EIC and IIC under the leadership of Prof. Rajesh Bhatia (Director PEC) and Prof. Sanjeev Kumar (IIC PEC President) for students and faculty to motivate entrepreneurship and innovation.
