In a strong push to create public awareness against drug abuse, a massive anti-drug Padyatra was organised in Dhuri city, drawing enthusiastic participation from people belonging to all sections of society. The Padyatra aimed to sensitise the public about the harmful effects of drugs and to reinforce the message of collective responsibility in building a drug-free society.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman of the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation, Dalvir Singh Dhillon, stated that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. He emphasised that the fight against drug abuse is not the responsibility of the government alone but requires active participation from every citizen.
He added that awareness initiatives like Padyatras play a vital role in mobilising society against this menace. Member of the Punjab Waqf Board, Dr. Anwar Bhasour, highlighted that drug abuse destroys not only individuals but also families and society as a whole.
He appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and channel their energy into education, sports, and other positive pursuits. Director, Small Industries Punjab, Anil Mittal, and Director, Sugarcane Punjab, Jaspal Bhuller, said that a drug-free society forms the foundation of a strong and progressive Punjab.
They stressed that the menace of drugs can be eradicated from its roots only through sustained social cooperation alongside government initiatives. On the occasion, Harpreet Singh Gill, Darshan Singh Pathak, Zila Parishad Member Rachpal Singh Bhuller, Pushpinder Sharma, Amanjot Kaur, Rajiv Chowdhary, Ashwani Dhir, Sandeep Tayal, Gagan Jwandiya, Veer Bhan, Ajaib Singh, and Sukhpal Singh, Rubal, Rupinder Bhuller, Dr. Kuljit Dhawan, Harpreet Singh Meemsa, and Happy Garg also pledged to stand united in the fight against drug abuse.
The speakers collectively stated that the Aam Aadmi Party government is taking consistent and effective measures to make Punjab drug-free. Along with stringent action against drug traffickers, special emphasis is also being laid on rehabilitation and support for individuals affected by drug addiction.
During the Padyatra, strong anti-drug slogans were raised, urging citizens to stay away from drugs. At the conclusion of the programme, members of the Aam Aadmi Party team and residents of Dhuri reaffirmed their commitment to making Dhuri and Punjab completely drug-free.
