Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh on Friday evening inaugurated an AI-powered integrated “ROBO-Suite”, a comprehensive robotic surgical ecosystem, at Park Hospital, Mohali, marking a significant advancement in high-end surgical care in North India. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Balbir Singh said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, has recently launched the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY), under which free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh per family will be provided to more than 65 lakh families of Punjab, covering over 2300 treatment packages.

The Health Minister said that such advanced and costly treatments would also be included in the treatment packages available at empanelled private hospitals. He informed that around 900 government and private hospitals have been empanelled so far, where nearly 2,300 treatment packages will be available to Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana cardholders, enabling cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh.

Dr. Balbir Singh further stated that the Punjab Government aims to cover around 65 lakh families under the scheme and that registration is progressing at a rapid pace for Aadhaar card and voter card holder citizens of the state. Appealing to private empanelled hospitals, the Health Minister urged them to actively support the Punjab Government’s efforts to ensure that quality and advanced healthcare services are accessible to every family, irrespective of their economic status.

On the occasion, Dr. Bhanu Pratap Saluja, Director – Orthopaedics and Robotic Surgery, Park Hospital, Mohali, said that the newly inaugurated ROBO-Suite is a next-generation surgical platform designed to deliver faster, safer and more predictable surgical outcomes. Dr. Saluja highlighted that with recent advancements in robotic surgery, there is no requirement for blood transfusion, no sutures, and no drains, as surgeries are performed through small incisions of about 3.5 to 4 inches.

He added that patients are able to walk within four hours after surgery, climb stairs from the next day, and achieve full recovery within 7 to 10 days.
