Senior Congress leader, Member of Parliament from Chandigarh and former Union Minister Manish Tewari stated that bringing the Congress party back to power is essential to protect Punjab from its current challenges and to secure the future of the state. He said that the prevailing issues of drug abuse and law and order in Punjab are well known to everyone.

Tewari was addressing a programme organised by Trade Union President Swarn Singh at Guru Amardas Nagar in Ludhiana. On the occasion, former President of District Congress Ludhiana (Urban) Pawan Diwan and senior Congress leader K.K. Bawa were also present.

Expressing concern over the current situation in Punjab, MP Tewari said that the condition of the state with regard to drug menace, law and order, and development is no secret. He added that Punjab is lagging behind compared to other states and asserted that only the Congress party has the vision and capability to bring the state out of the present crisis.

Tewari further said that as the representative of Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, he is deeply concerned about the future of Punjab’s three crore people. He also reminisced about his long-standing association and memories with Ludhiana.

Later, while interacting with the media, Tewari remarked that to save Punjab, politics of blame and counter-blame must be avoided. He emphasized that merely making allegations does not solve problems; instead, collective efforts and constructive work are required.

Earlier, the MP also distributed blankets among the needy. On the occasion, several other dignitaries including Inderjit Kapoor, Sushil Malhotra, Kulbir Singh Neeta, B.M. Kalia, Dr. Rajesh Arora, Sukhwant Kaur and Manjinder Singh were also present.
