Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi's historic launch of the country's first hydrogen fuel-powered passenger train from Jind on Friday has ushered in a new chapter in the history of India's railway transportation. More than the inauguration of a new rail service, the initiative marks a significant milestone in India's pursuit of green mobility, indigenous technology, energy self-reliance and sustainable development.

The launch of the hydrogen train places Haryana at the forefront of India's green transport revolution. The project not only showcases the adoption of cutting-edge technology but also reflects India's growing capability to develop and deploy next-generation transportation solutions.

Powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology, the train offers a significantly cleaner, more environmentally sustainable and low-carbon alternative to conventional diesel-powered rail services. The adoption of hydrogen-based technology by Indian Railways is not merely a technological achievement; it also reinforces the broader vision of Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Green India and Viksit Bharat 2047.

The initiative is expected to accelerate the transition towards clean energy-based transportation, reduce dependence on fossil fuels and open new avenues for green innovation in the railway sector in the years ahead.
